A Memorable Day In History of KNDP
On Thursday, March 7th, Daria Juüdi-Hope became the next Federal Candidate for the Kingston and the Islands NDP.
Former Stormont Dundas South Glengarry NDP Provincial Candidate and current Kingston City Councillor, Wendy Stephen, emceed the evening for the dozens of people in attendance.
Former Kingston and the Islands’ Federal Candidate, Vic Sahai, spoke about Daria’s integrity, leadership, and passion for public healthcare as he nominated her, and former Kingston and the Islands’ Provincial Candidate, Mary Rita Holland, offered her sincere congratulations to Daria via Zoom.

I stand before you today with a heart full of hope and determination as we announce my candidacy for Member of Parliament with the NDP in Kingston and The Islands. My name is Daria Juüdi-Hope, and I am fuelled by a deep belief in the power of collective action to create positive change. In our journey toward a better future, hope is our guiding light. It is hope that fuels our passion for justice and equality, hope that drives our commitment to building a society where every individual can thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
As a first-generation Canadian, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of hope. From my work alongside Indigenous nations to my advocacy for human rights and environmental justice, I have seen how hope can ignite change, even in the face of adversity.
But hope alone is not enough. We need action. We need engagement. We need all hands on deck to transform hope into reality. That is why I am calling on each and every one of you to join me in this journey. Together, we can build a future where every person has access to quality healthcare, where no one is left behind due to poverty or inequality, and where our planet is protected for future generations.
Our campaign is not just about winning an election—it’s about building a movement for change. It’s about inspiring hope in our communities and empowering individuals to take action. It’s about rallying support for policies that address the social determinants of health ensuring that every person has the opportunity to live a life of dignity and opportunity.
So let us come together, united in our vision for a better future. Let us roll up our sleeves and work tirelessly to create positive change in our communities. And let us never lose sight of the hope that fuels our journey—a hope that knows no bounds and that will carry us forward, even in the darkest of times.
